Toothpick in Kendra's Foot

So back in about June or July I took Kendra in to the doctor because she had a bump on the bottom of her foot that looked like she had stepped on something, and I couldn't find anything in her foot to get out. so the doctor dug in her foot and couldn't find anything either so we figured it was an infection and she was put on antibiotics and with the antibiotics it went away and we forgot all about it. Then in September sometime she got a big bump on the side of her foot, and she told me about it at the end of September. So again we went to the doctor because with how hard it felt and how it looked I thought it was a broken bone of some sort. The doctor thought it was an infection as well so the doctor put her on antibiotics again and that didn't do anything so after our Disneyland trip we took in October we went back to the doctor and they figured it was like cartilage or whatever it is people tend to have bump up on the wrist and stuff and since it wasn't bothering her at all they said if that's what it was then it should go away on its own. But he told me if it started to hurt her or look worse than to make an appointment with a podiatrist. which I had made an appointment with the one he suggested for the 26th of this month, because it started rubbing against her shoe and bleeding. and being the good mother I am I thought about having her soak it in Epsom salt and water today for 45 mins. When she took her foot out of the water to to dry it i was nicely surprised by what looked in the water like just some skin hanging off the side of her foot. was actually about 2 centimeters of toothpick sticking out. So I grabbed tweezers and pulled on it and then repositioned the tweezers and pulled again and then again, to find she had a half of a toothpick stuck in her foot.

I'm guessing its what was in her foot way back in June or July. when I pulled it out there was pus with it so I knew that it was infected so I looked at the clock to see it was 4:30 and the doctors office was still open for 30 mins so I called and talked to the nurse who was able to squeeze us in to be seen 10 mins before they closed and even though we were running late they were nice and waited for us and didn't make me go to the kidscare. So the doctor looked at it and then had us go downstairs to radiology and get on x-ray to make sure nothing was left in her foot and there wasn't any signs of infection in the bone then we went back up the the office and he showed us the x-ray and said it looked good then he called in a prescription for some antibiotics and sent us home. so now we just have to watch it and seeing if it gets better or not. if it doesn't get better I still have the appointment with the podiatrist to look at it but if it does get better then I can cancel that appointment. we already have soaked her foot again tonight and looked at it and its looking better and smaller just within the few hours since I pulled the toothpick out.

Honeybees

This is the story of the honeybees. So we were having just a little family a birthday party on Monday April 23rd for Kaylies 10th birthday. Her birthday was the following Wednesday but shans dad was gonna be out of town so we did it Monday. Anyways so my neighbor came and knocked on the door to inform us that there was a lot of bees in our tree. So we all went out and looked and then went back and did more of kaylies birthday and then when that was done I went out and took 2 pictures. Each from a different side of the tree. So these first two pictures are of the Swarm of Honeybees in the tree. The next day I called terminex to see if they just kill hem or move them and they said they don’t touch them cuz they are protected in Utah. So I browsed the internet till I came accross the website Beefriendlyutah.com and I called the guy and he came within a half hour to take care of them.

This is the first box the bee guy used. It is full of wood with honeycombs on them.

This is the guy shaking the bees off the tree into the box and yes he got the queen she is in the middle of ll the bees. (everyone ask me that so I’m answering so you wont have to ask me)

This is the box after he shook all the bees into it. He had to give them time to go down into the box.

Now hes preparing another box for the bees because this box was to small.

He put a what I think is called plywood over the top of the box, also he is sitting there trying to calm the bees down

He left the box sitting there like that all day till around 9pm to give all the bees time to find there way back and into the box.

This is when he came back and went to put a lid on the box instead of the plywood.

These are the few bees left in the tree at the end. He got a few of them down but some stayed. Those that stayed eventually found a new hive or went back from here they came from.

This is the bee guy he has been doing this for several years. He collects them from where they are not wanted and moves them to where they are wanted. He said mine were going to a farm that’s actually not that far from me. He has a website beefriendlyutah.com so if anyone needs him you can have them look at his site. Kaylies 10th Birthday

so for Kaylies 10th birthday we let her have a slumber birthday party. she invited 4 girls and only 2 showed up and only 1 stayed the night. but they still had fun. we had kaylies favorite meal of chocolate chip pancakes with fruit, whip cream, and syrup on them for dinner. they then played for a few minutes before we did Cupcakes, Ice cream and presents. then they plyed agin for a bit before I pulled out the nail and hair stuff and let them do their nails. that didn't go as well as I would have liked, I was trying to help them and keep my other kids out of the polish at the same time. but then maybe 10 minutes in they got bored and wanted to run around and play again so then the rest of the night they ran around playing till 11pm when the 1 friend went home. then they layed out there sleeping bags and watched Happy Feet 2 and went to sleep. I feel bad though cuz I didn't take many photos of it all. only took few. the last picture was actually taken on monday at her family party but it looks the same as it did at her slumber party.

April

So this month was kind of busy one we had mine and Shans 12th Anniversary, Easter, and Kaylies 10th Birthday. So for my anniversary Shan bought me a dozen beautiful roses.

on Easter the kids had fun finding their baskets and all the eggs.

oh and look I braided Kendras hair.

Slacker

Sorry I know I said I was gonna blog more but i've been busy with work and cleaning my house I haven't had the time to sit and blog. I will try to update it today or sometime this week.

Family Photo

So we finally went and got a new family photo. the last time we had one taken Kendra was 3 months old so its been about 7 years.
we went to sears cuz they offed me a $100 photo package, and I've always liked how they work with my kids and get them to smile and how nice the pictures turn out. this time though it was all crap. we were there for 2 hours, the lady who started taking the pictures couldn't get Stockton to smile it took someone coming and taking over to make him smile. they took a few pictures with a white background that in the one good picture wasn't even all the way over. then they did the majority of the pictures with a black background. you couldn't see the outline of my hair or Kendra's hair with the black background and Shan was in a black shirt which completely blended in so you couldn't see his shirt.
oh and the $100 photo package turned out to be 1 10x13 and a photo CD, the photo CD with 1 picture on it cost $80 which is crazy. so I
had to pay for the other pictures I got. I will have them on Dec 2. its on;y 1 other photo other than the main family picture.
oh also there's a weird circle on my throat on the photo which is like a glare or something not sure where it came from, but it wasn't really anything on me.

Crappy Flu

So I think I had either a Flu or food poisoning It didn't feel like the flu all that was wrong was I was throwing up like crazy and was dead tired since I had been up all night at work. about 1pm I finally stopped throwing up and was doing a bit better. thank goodness for Kaylie she got home from school at 2 since it was a short day and she watched all the kids so I could sleep and when Shan got home later I was feeling so much better from getting sleep.

I have to wonder if it was the flu since the next night Stockton woke me up coughing like crazy and then he threw up 2 times. then was done. was thinking his was just from coughing so much till tonight.

Kendra and Kalista both in separate rooms started throwing up just minutes apart. and they are still throwing up. hopefully it wont last long because I worked last night and only got about 4 hours of sleep today due to Dr appointments. and I am extremely tired and grouchy.

I'm sure none of you care to read about my throw up stories but oh well enjoy. I have to tell someone and you choose to read my blog so you choose to read about it. :)

Halloween Picture

 

So Shan took the kids trick or treating and I stayed home to give out the candy. Hardly anybody came I'd say maybe 20 kids total if that so I was giving out 2 candies to each kid. Turns out that's what everyone was doing and since there was no trunk or treating this year more people were home giving out candy. My kids came home with there buckets completely full and they were gone maybe an hour and didn't leave the cul-de-sac, which normally we have to leave to get more candy and they still only fill there buckets half way.
so I'd say they made out pretty well this year.
